[ECM 2.3] PREMIUM

ThinkTank™ 2.3 ECM is a continuation of the 2.0 product with improvements in moisture resistance and line transient suppression. The product serves the indoor blower market for almost all residential HVAC systems and many commercial air distribution systems. Their wide speed range, high efficiency and programmability give them a virtually unlimited range of performance characteristics, which results in a highly reliable, field-proven, convenient package. The ECM 2.3 allows you to imagine and implement possibilities that no conventional induction motor, or competing variable-speed technology could provide. The product is offered in a wide range of specifications.

ThinkTank 2.3 has redefined comfort and efficiency in forced-air heating and cooling systems. ECM-driven systems feature: more even temperatures, better indoor air quality, precise humidity control, quieter operation and lower utility bills. The sixth generation of premium ECM motors, ThinkTank 3.0 features BlakBox™ technology for diagnosing HVAC system functions and customizing unit performance.

ThinkTank 3.0 features built-in BlaKBox™ Technology and the AirKom™ operating system, which lets equipment manufacturers create forced-air systems that are more advanced, more reliable, and easier to service. Systems that utilize the ThinkTank 3.0 have fewer set-up steps because the motor enables true plug & play self-recognition software and a user interface that can control system, set-up and troubleshooting.

With premium ThinkTank features like constant-airflow, a wide speed range, and climate-specific profiles and the new motor's BlacKBox fault reporting, 3.0 allows more accurate operation for the entire HVAC system. ThinkTank 3.0 is also compatible with the TECMate PRO troubleshooting tool with the use of a freely-available connection adaptor.

[ECM X13] STANDARD

Meet the new standard for HVAC equipment: the X13 standard ECM. When 13 SEER new minimum rating for residential AC units in 2006, equipment manufacturers called for a blower motor with improved efficiency over PSC motors. To answer the call, GE ECM by Regal-Beloit developed standard ECM, a new category of motor made specifically to help meet the needs of 13 SEER.

Standard ECMs are similar in function ot a PSC, with a minimal speed range, the ability to choose from 1-5 discreet speed taps, and no programmable features. The key difference, X13 offers improved efficiency over the PSC, built upon over 20 years of proven, reliable GE ECM technology. With the ever-increasing need for higher efficiency equipment, expect to see all PSC motors replaced with standard ECM in the next 10 years. X13 offers up to 33% greater efficiency than a PSC at rated speed, and up to 200% in constant fan mode.

With X13, there are now three kinds of motors found in new equipment: PSC motors have a minimal speed range, the lowest efficiencies, and no programmable features. Standard ECMs have better efficiency than a PSC, but with a limited speed range and no advanced features. Premium ThinkTank ECMs have the highest efficiency and advanced features like self-adjusting constant airflow, climate-specific operating profiles, fully variable speed range, and digital communication.

Standard and Premium ECMs are for use in original equipment only, because they need a specialized control signal. For customers who are replacing an existing blower motor, there is a retrofit ECM availble for air handlers and heat pump systems that do not use fossil fuel. [ECM] CONTROLS

Did you know that every major manufacturer of variable-speed heating and cooling equipment now offers money-saving replacement controls for their GE ECM blower motors?

Technicians can replace an ECM control for roughly the same cost as replacing a standard induction motor, and usually in less time.
